Venice Biennale 2026: Tegene to represent Ethiopia

Tegene Kunbi will represent the Ethiopian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2026 with Shapes of Silence, curated by Abebaw Ayalew, with Yohannes Mulat Mekonnen serving as Curatorial Assistant at Palazzo Bollani from May 9 to November 22, 2026.

This marks Ethiopia's second Biennale participation, backed by the Ministry of Tourism and Primo Marella Gallery, featuring Kunbi's three-decades-spanning works through abstraction, textiles and assemblage to explore silence as a social and political condition.
